Gretsch 5129

Okay, lust is one of the seven deadly.  Is it deadly if I’m lusting after this lovely piece of workmanship?

It is reminiscent of, but not exactly like, my first electric guitar which I regret trading off when I was a young, stupid teenager.  This one has everything:  hollow body, Bigsby, twangy single-coil pickups, bright red finish.   I would love to have something other than a solid-body Fender in my stable, and this fits the bill.  I could come extremely close to that first guitar (an old Gibson ES-330) by getting an Epiphone Casino and installing a Bigsby – but this guitar would be there without any modifications.  And it’s a GRETSCH (to get an idea of the Gretsch sound think early George Harrison, Chet Atkins, Brian Setzer, Rev. Horton Heat).

Who am I kidding?  It won’t make me a better guitarist, and more than likely I’ll still sound pretty much like me on one of those.

But I’m drooling over it.

I maintain that this guitar will definitely make you a better guitarist. I maintain that because I believe it about myself. So, when you get this guitar be sure to pick up one for me too 😉

    Just bought one on ebay.
Now, for $500 how could I say no? You can’t.
And yes, I do expect it to make me a better guitar player!
just like I thought that Dano 12 string would…
…. or that Epi Dot Studio…
If I buy enough guitars, my talent should skyrocket…
